S Jaishankar reacts to US ambassador Eric Garcetti’s ‘red line’ remark on Pannun row

External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Monday reacted to the ‘red line’ comment made by US Ambassador Eric Garcetti over the alleged Gurpatwant Singh Pannun assassination bid, saying New Delhi has been investigating the matter on the basis of “certain information” provided by the country.
“The US ambassador as an ambassador will say what he thinks is the position of his government. The position of my government is that in this particular case, there has been certain information provided to us which we are investigating,” S Jaishankar said.

कच्चातिवु द्वीप मसले के चलते श्रीलंका द्वारा भारतीय मछुआरों के पकड़े जाने की घटना की जानकारी देते हुए जयशंकर ने कहा कि पिछले 20 वर्षों में, 6184 भारतीय मछुआरों को श्रीलंका द्वारा हिरासत में लिया गया है और इसी समयकाल में 1175 भारतीय मछली पकड़ने वाली नौकाओं को श्रीलंका द्वारा जब्त किया गया है।
भाजपा नेता और विदेश मंत्री एस. जयशंकर ने कच्चातिवु द्वीप के मुद्दे पर सोमवार को एक प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस में हिस्सा लिया। इसमें उन्होंने कच्चातिवु द्वीप पर भारत का अधिकार छोड़ने को लेकर कांग्रेस और द्रमुक पर निशाना साधा। जयशंकर ने कहा कि 1974 में, भारत और श्रीलंका ने एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए, जहां उन्होंने एक समुद्री सीमा खींची, और समुद्री सीमा खींचने में कच्चातिवु को सीमा के श्रीलंकाई पक्ष पर रखा गया।
